Wake up inside the tea country

The T Cottage is a serene, self-catering farmhouse on our 5-acre tea farm in Othaya, Nyeri, about 110 km from Nairobi. It is a quiet escape for family or friends, with peaceful countryside charm, a study and Wi-Fi.

Guests have the run of an expansive tea farm with river frontage. The Aberdares are close by, and trips there or to the nearby tea factory can be arranged. Fresh produce comes straight from the garden to your table.

On the same plot is the Rustic Studio Cabin, a self-catering studio for two with warm wood interiors and its own kitchenette.

House rules

  • Check-in from 14:00, check-out by 10:00
  • No smoking inside the cottage or the cabin.
  • No parties or events.
  • Quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00.
  • Please stay on the paths when walking through the tea and along the river.
  • Pets are allowed, as long as they remain under the owner's control and responsibility.

Cancellation policy

Agree your dates with Tony on WhatsApp, then pay a 50% deposit to reserve them. Your dates stay open to other guests until then. The balance is paid at check-in.

Free cancellation: you can cancel for a full refund of the deposit within 48 hours of your deposit being paid and your booking confirmed, as long as check-in is at least 7 days away.

After those 48 hours, or if you book less than 7 days before check-in, the deposit is not refundable. Refunds are arranged directly with the host on WhatsApp.

We are about 4 km from Othaya town in Nyeri County, roughly 110 km from Nairobi, on smooth tarmac roads all the way to the gate. There is parking in the compound.

Choose The T Cottage or the Rustic Studio Cabin, pick your dates and send an enquiry on this site. Nothing is charged here. WhatsApp opens with your details so you can send them to Tony. Once you agree your dates and pay the 50% deposit, Tony books them and they close on the calendar.

Tony usually replies within 1 to 2 hours, often sooner. Your stay is only booked once you have agreed your dates with Tony on WhatsApp and paid the 50% deposit. Until then the dates are not held for you.

Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Early arrival or late departure is sometimes possible if your stay is free the night before or after. Ask the host on WhatsApp.

You can cancel for free, with your full deposit refunded, within 48 hours of your deposit being paid and your booking confirmed, as long as check-in is at least 7 days away. After those 48 hours, or if you book less than 7 days before check-in, the deposit is not refundable. For example, if you pay your deposit on 7 November for a stay starting 20 November, you can cancel for free until 9 November. Refunds are arranged directly with the host.
